Speaking & Presenting

We are passionate about sharing out effective practices and innovative uses of educational technology. We love inspiring and training teachers on how they can use instructional technology to be innovative in their practice. The last four years we have lead 20+ professional development sessions for educators throughout our building, school district, and at local conferences. We love to present and connect with other educators. Below is a list of some of the sessions we can do but it is not a full list. Please contact us if you would like us to present at your conference.

Professional Development Sessions Offered:

connectEDucators: Harnessing the Power of Social Media to be a Digital Leader: In this session, we introduce educators from 1st-year teachers to central office administrators to the Power and importance of becoming a digital leader. Based on the work of Eric Sheninger, George Couros, and Dr. Joe Sanfelippo, we encourage all to tell their story in a way that will meet their stakeholders where they are- on a digital platform. Topics include the utilization of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Adobe Spark, and Mentimeter.

Creating a (Digital) Culture of Thinking & Innovation: Participants will learn how to use innovative apps such as SeeSaw, OneNote to create a deep culture of thinking. We will demonstrate how these technologies can cultivate critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity – skills that empower our students to find their voice while preparing them for the future job market.

Can You Escape This Breakout Session? An Introduction to #BreakoutEDU: It’s time for something different in education. In this session, facilitated by two elementary teachers, participants will learn about the phenomenon that is BreakoutEDU! Join us and discover some awesome benefits of gamifying your classroom. Develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Promote collaboration and teamwork. Foster a growth mindset. Encourage perseverance as students begin to see that “intelligence” doesn’t count as much as the willingness to keep trying. Access content knowledge – the puzzles can be built around content being covered in class and, even better, students can eventually create games for each other, using subject area content clues. #BreakoutEDU is exciting and motivating… learn just how engaged students can get!

BreakoutEDU 2.0: in this session, participants will walk away with actionable ideas to bring this EDU-game to their classroom and even create games of their own.

Thinking Outside The Bubble – An Innovative Approach to Assessment:  Tired of giving outdated multiple choice tests that only assess memorization? Good! Because we believe it’s time for something new! In this session, participants will learn how we have reimagined end of unit assessments in science and social studies by adopting a hands-on Project-Based Learning approach in our 4th-grade classroom. We will share how we have rethought entire units of study to empower students to be active learners. We will show how we utilize innovative apps such as iMovie, Shadow Puppet, Adobe Spark, Weebly, and more to shift students from content consumers to content creators!

Mindfulness and the Morning Meeting: This session will focus on teaching students how to develop the most powerful tool they have access to… Their brain! We will share how we start our day with a daily character development lesson through a powerful morning meeting to develop a growth mindset and positive habits. This skills will empower students for success in life!

Smashing Apps for App Smashing: Participants will learn about a variety of innovative apps that they can use to create powerful learning experiences for their students. App Smashing is the act of using two or more apps to create a finished product and we will show which apps can be smashed together for powerful results!

Digital Portfolios: SeeSaw  & OneNote: We will showcase how teachers can use SeeSaw and OneNote to create and organize students work in a digital portfolio. This makes life a whole lot easier come report card and conference time as well as showcases student work and growth to parents easily!
